CELEBRATE RECOVERY
A recovery program based on eight principles from the Beatitudes

The purpose of Celebrate Recovery is to
fellowship and celebrate God's healing power in our lives through the 8
recovery principles and the Christ-centered 12 steps. We open the door
by sharing our experience, strengths and hopes with one another. In
addition, we become willing to accept God's grace in solving our life
problems.
By working the steps and applying their Biblical
principles, we begin to grow spiritually. We become free from our
addictive, compulsive and dysfunctional behaviors. This freedom creates
peace, serenity, joy and most importantly, a stronger relationship with
God and others.
Celebrate Recovery is a recovery program based on eight principles from the Beatitudes. It is a national movement (national web site).
2 Corinthians 12:9 says "But he said to me, "My
grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness."
It is my nature to sin, and it is yours, too. None of us is untainted.
Because of sin, we've all hurt ourselves, we've hurt other people, and
others have hurt us. This means each of us needs repentance and
recovery in order to live our lives the way God intended.
Celebrate Recovery is about people
seeking freedom from all kinds of sinful habits, hang-ups, and hurts as
they allow Jesus to be Lord in every area of their lives.

Eight Principles Based on the Beatitudes
-
Realize I'm not God.
-
Earnestly believe that God exists, that I matter to Him, and that He has the power to help me recover.
-
Consciously choose to commit all my life and will to Christ's care and control.
-
Openly examine and confess my faults to myself, to God, and to someone I trust.
-
Voluntarily submit to every change God wants to make in my life and humbly ask Him to remove my character defects.
-
Evaluate all my relationships. Offer forgiveness to those who have hurt me and make amends for harm I've done to others except when to do so would harm them or others.
-
Reserve a daily time with God for self-examination, Bible reading, and prayer in order to know God and His will for my life and to gain the power to follow His will.
- Yield myself to God to be used to bring the Good News to others, both by my example and by my words.
